Debbie Foster started her career as a primary school teacher. After 7 years, she gave up teaching to work in the family business – a second-hand bookshop in Brentwood, Essex – while she studied for her HND in bookbinding in London. She won a medal for work on the course. She has also worked as a bookseller in London’s West End, specialising in children’s books.
Debbie has always been interested in illustrated children’s books and built up her own small collection from the books that passed through the family shop. One of her favourite illustrators is Mabel Lucie Attwell.
Through this site, Debbie aims not just to sell beautiful and out-of-print books, but also to help people encourage their children to read a variety of literature by supplying reading lists and packages of appropriate books.
Debbie lives in Brentwood, Essex with her husband and son.
